07:20 AM ET 01.26 | Dontre Wilson, a 5-foot-10, 174-pound running back from DeSoto, Texas, committed to Oregon last spring. He now plans to visit Columbus this weekend. Meanwhile, Ohio State celebrated Chip Kelly's NFL announcement by rushing Buckeyes offensive coordinator Tom Herman to San Diego to visit four-star wide receiver Darren Carrington Jr., another UO recruit. Also in San Diego, Ohio State offered two more critical Oregon commitments, twin basketball/football stars Tyree and Tyrell Robinson, scholarships after the Eagles-Kelly business went public.

Just the way it is...you lose your coach - which is a big reason players commit to any school - and put uncertainty into your system, others will be a calling. If I were a star player, I'd MUCH rather go with Urban Meyer (an absolute proven entity), then to sit back and HOPE that Oregon will remain good. They were not a very good team before Kelly and now he is gone. Fair is fair and Ohio State lost recruits because of some stupid tatoos, and the perception of downgraded future with the program. Now Oregon's conecerns are real.

I can't blame any HSer who revokes his commitment to Oregon because the coach quit on the school.

A coach trying to sway players that have given a verbal commitment to another school? Unbelievable!

What an incredible low class move. I guess I should expect nothing less from Urban Meyer.

YES - there was actually a Pope named Urban. He was # 17 St. Urban I (222-30) and he served from 222 AD to 230 AD. For those of you that are non Catholic, AD means after Christ died. :)

J_b_k. It actually means anno domini...the year of our Lord. Also, the most famous Pope Urban was II who inspired the crusades in 1095.

Oh, nice to see "Mr. Health Reasons" is up to his old tricks. Somewhere, the best of the SEC are secretly praying that they get to face Urb's boys in the BCS Championship next year to make it 8 in a row.
If Alabama had played OSU this year in the BCS, they would have won by at least 4 touchdowns.

The SEC is watching Urban Meyer closely because every coach in that conference knows that Ohio State if not this year then the next will be a force to reckon with.He not only will change the landscape of the Big Ten but will have the Buckeyes in position to compete for the National title every year.If recruits don't want to come play for the Buckeyes then so be it.What makes Urban Meyer a championship coach is that he is an elite recruiter and recognizes that there is an abundance of talent outside the state of Ohio and will make every effort to go out and get it.
