08:01 AM ET 01.26 | The Jets' new general manager tried to make sure his best player didn't feel all alone on Revis Island. John Idzik called Darrelle Revis on Thursday to clear the air after the star cornerback seemed miffed when two reports asserted that the Jets were willing to trade him. Idzik would not go into detail about the conversation, but told NBC Sports Network's Pro Football Talk on Friday that Revis "reacted well" and "my feeling was that he was appreciative to hear from me about what happened." Revis, who posted on Twitter that he was "speechless" upon seeing the initial reports about the Jets exploring trade options, did not make his thoughts on the call known immediately.

Jets gotta get some playmakers on offense. If they can trade Revis for one, more power to them.

That has to be the first time in his life that Revis was "speechless".

Even if that offensive player can run, throw and catch his own passes, I don't think it will make much difference. There will still be that coaching thing that will screw it all up.

I commented in one of the other Revis threads that this team has so many holes it can't possibly fill them all. What sense does it make to pay 16 million to a malcontent corner just to go 4-12 the next three or four years? Trade him for a few picks, bank the 16 million and get some young players to bring up as a core. Trading him for another 16 million dollar player simply replaces the hole at running back or WR with a hole at corner. What's gained?

The Jets have to clean house and start over, they should do a salary dump, take whatever hits they have to take, even draft a Quarterback if they don't think MCElroy can do the job!

Thats right, it is not a matter of wanting to clean house, they must clean house because they are $19 million over the NFL Salary Cap.

Jets are getting rid of the wrong player, try Sanchez first.

January 26, 2013  05:20 PM ET

I can see it now. Jets will give Revis away for nothing, but the willing team must take Sanchez and Tebow, too.

January 26, 2013  11:00 PM ET

why not?

That would be a deal breaker. At least it should be to all the other teams!
