Giants, Jets tried to keep Super Bowl rivals out of their facilities

10:08 AM ET 01.27 | As part of their bid for Super Bowl XLVIII, the Jets and Giants proposed the AFC team use the Giants facility and the NFC team use the Jets facility. The reasons were clear: The Jets were not thrilled at the prospect of the Patriots descending upon Florham Park and the Giants were not necessarily excited about the Cowboys, Redskins or Eagles checking into their facility for the week in East Rutherford. The NFL has final say on who practices where and the suggestions by the Giants and Jets were rejected. It's standard Super Bowl practice that when an AFC team is hosting the game, the AFC team practices at their facility. And the NFC team practices at the NFC facility when they are hosting. So the NFL is just following protocol.

Thats the problem when adults make a living playing a game

January 27, 2013  10:46 AM ET

The only thing I hope for is a typical winters day and the crying from the losing team how it is so unfair to play the game in a stadium without a dome.

lol,......i can just picture all the ~grafitti~ my pats spraypaint all-over sanchise's locker, and sheet in their [jets] toilets without ~flushing~ !!,.........i doubt the pats make it next year [out of gillette] the way they played last week.

it's supposed to be almost 60-degrees UP here in mass. the end of next week [wed./thurs.],...and ny/nj is typically warmer feb. 1st [excellent football weather],.........hollyweirdo's should stay home if they can't handle it in 2014 !

I may be a bit pessimistic here... but I don't think the Giants have to worry about the Cowboys using their facilities.

Not to mention that if the switch were approved and the Patriots (don't laugh, it could happen) were to use the Giants facility, well............................................

We need to keep this adult, don't use the facilities, just crap on the floor and piss on the walls

January 27, 2013  12:16 PM ET

Well it sure looks like the Giants will once again have the ability to use their own Facility, Home Sweet Home!!!!

January 27, 2013  12:17 PM ET

if they are so worried about it, maybe they should have done more to make it to the game themselves..

Sad.

What's really sad is that by their proposal of which team uses which facility they're basically saying that their team (Jets and Giants) have no chance to make it to the game. Now that's throwing in the towel a year before the game even starts. Sad.

January 27, 2013  01:07 PM ET

let's enjoy next week's superbowl [first],.....and if the jerks-n-giANTS are so concerned about 2014 = JUST WIN YOUR DIVISION !

The GGGMen should never be ruled out until they are mathematically eliminated. But as long as Rex is coaching the J-E-T-S, there should be a ceremonial towel-throw on opening day.
