05:55 PM ET 01.27 | On Sunday the Boston Celtics learned that point guard Rajon Rondo has torn his ACL and would be lost for the season. Beyond the immediate implications this has on the Celtics, a spot has just opened up on Eastern Conference All-Star team. There has already been speculation as to who will replace Rondo on the All-Star team, but an announcement hasn't yet officially been made. David Stern isn't restricted to just selecting a guard to replace Rondo on the team, which means some of the players that got snubbed in both the initial vote and the selection of the reserves have had their All-Star hopes restored. Right now, the favorite among the basketball community to replace Rondo is Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez. Many thought that Lopez had a pretty good shot at making the All-Star team as a reserve but was ultimately beat out by Chris Bosh, Tyson Chandler and Joakim Noah.

Brook and Steph Curry are by far the biggest snubs. I'm glad that it seems like Brook will get the spot he deserves. Hopefully something will work out for Curry.

What the hell does Brandon Jennings have to do to get on this team? Does the whole roster have to get hurt before he's even considered. This is just ridiculous. So he's basically being punished because he plays in a small market. I guarantee you if Brook Lopez played in Milwaukee, we wouldn't even be hearing about him right now

"David Stern isn't restricted to just selecting a guard to replace Rondo on the team". Really? It's Stern's unilateral decision?? 'Cuz he's such a great judge of basketball talent? A decision by Stern will be less about basketball and far more about marketing and TV. Moreover, it adds to the narrative that Stern plays favorites with certain teams and certain players. So, he gets to pick which player gets to cash in the all star incentive in his contract? Seriously, this is something that should be delegated to those who are in a better position to judge the players on their basketball merits.
