07:28 AM ET 01.28 | Antawn Jamison and Anthony Parker are gone, and, in his second season, Kyrie Irving has taken over. Irving's dramatic 3-pointer in the game's final second Saturday night was the fifth game-winner of his young career. ... [As reporters] swarmed Irving, he took the moment to grasp his rightful place atop the organization. Throughout his rookie season, Irving shied away from the label of leader. Not anymore. "I'm the leader of this team," Irving said, believed to be the first time he's actually uttered those six words. It may be obvious to those on the outside, and even on the inside, but it was an important moment for Irving to understand what is expected of him every night.

Already one of the league's top players. Irving combines offensive skill better than any player on this list, and far better than anyone at this age in recent memory. He has proven he can carry his team with impressive offensive explosions that range from the 3-point line to the paint. Irving plays with a high IQ and is disciplined at shot selection, and would be even more effective on a good team. Irving is a future MVP candidate. -- Thorpe

Maybe some of the "older" players like Melo can learn something about being a leader - from this 20 year old.

Its becomming more interesting to watch the Cavs. I said this all along, that they should let the young ones start.. like Irving, waiters, gee, zeller, tristan.. and trade off boobie and andy. Let those guys be the core of the team with Irving leading.
