07:39 AM ET 01.28 | The clock is ticking yet again, this time until later in the week. With a deadline looming for prospective Phoenix Coyotes buyer Greg Jamison to purchase the team from the National Hockey League, Glendale officials have no idea whether he'll complete the deal. He needs to buy the team by Thursday to secure a 20-year deal to use and manage the city-owned Jobing.com Arena. If he misses the deadline, the agreement will expire, and with it the goodwill of a previous City Council. ... Glendale voters replaced four of the seven members of the City Council in November, and the new contingent seems unlikely to extend Jamison, or any other potential hockey-team owner, another contract as sweet as the one awaiting Jamison's signature.

The end of the lockout is truly at hand. We have threads on the Coyotes precarious ownership situation. Just like old times.

QUOTE(#3):

How pathetic is it that this team has been owned by the league for 4 damn years.

Think of it this way, if the team was sold to Basillie a couple years ago, with all the troubles Blackberry is having these days, it could have been worse.

It doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

Ironic that we a only a few days away from Groundhog day isn't it ?

He had lotsa dough then. I wonder when Gary tells him its okay to surface again?

He's supposedly not going to come up with the money.

There was an indication that he consulted with George Gillet Jr. for either a loan or to join ownership, rumour is that Gillet is insterested in having the franchise in Markham.

What this all means...

BB's demise was overly exaggerated. And i'm really pleased I bought in at $7.00.Besides, the Hamilton NHL team would have been profitable on its own. RIM could've gone completely broke and the team would've been absolutely fine.

and the Sabres, not so much.

I was thinking the same thing...we got the Selanne shot, the 3-Fingers torts shot...now a Coyotes thread...all is right in T&R and Bettman land

After what he and Hicks did to Liverpool, Gillett should be barred from franchise ownership anywhere forever. Same with his offspring.

no kidding (says i as a Liverpool supporter!)
but I still say location is an issue...want to keep the American west in play? Want a new market/ try seattle....

Well we haven't had a Modano, Forsberg, Sundin, etc comeback story yet in the middle of the playoffs or anything important but we have all season to wait for that.

Everytime Modano gets mentioned I immediately smile and think of the stretcher incident...

actually, from the homeland it's Hearts and Hibs...
But since I have no english hometown to root for, I figured as a R&R musician, I would root for the team from the beatles' home town.
That's my logic and what it is...
and it's mine too!
