07:39 AM ET 01.28 | Red Wings fans found out before Sunday night's game that Darren Helm wouldn't play against Chicago, and it's not immediately clear when he'll be back. [Helm] had a setback with his back injury. ... Helm missed all of training camp and the first three games of the season after tweaking his back on Jan. 10 while working out off-ice. He returned to the lineup in Friday's 5-3 win over Minnesota, logging 12:27, providing energy and a physical presence and killing penalties. He left midway through Saturday's practice. The team has just ruled him out for [Sunday]. No word on how long he will be out. General manager Ken Holland said Helm will have an MRI on Monday. Helm is missed each time he is idled.

There is definitely some sort of psych term for that. It's in the same class as "shock".

that sucks, Other than Datsyuk Helm is my favourite player by far. He is fast blocks shots creates energy and he isn't 47 years old like the rest of the players on my favourite team.

The timing of the lock out couldn't have been worse for the Wings. They lose the best defenseman in the game and they don't really have any time to work on pairings or tweaking the system without him. They'll have trouble this year, but will probably bounce back next year.

I just don't see PK and his "tude" fitting into the Wings.

With Lidstrom gone, I'm not so sure there's one defenseman on the roster who can connect on a stretch pass. Without that threat, teams can forecheck the hell out of the Wings.

Having Helm out really showed even as the Wings held their own all game. Until OT. Franzen can't be counted on either, you see him go down like he'd been shot. 5 minutes later he scores.
