03:58 PM ET 01.28 | Restricted free agent defenseman P.K. Subban is expected to meet with his representation on Monday afternoon to discuss the next step he wishes to take with his future. Currently involved in a negotiation with the Montreal Canadiens on a new agreement, the two sides have failed to find common ground in determining Subban's value. It is believed that Subban is seeking a deal that will pay him $5 million annually. However, the Canadiens are not believed to be interested in going that high. With trade rumors beginning to pick up steam, Subban's meeting on Monday could give some indication as to how this situation will play out.

This whole thing has become a 3 ring circus and it's starting to irritate the crap out of me. Stand pat Montreal, let him come crawling back.

my theory, this is mere speculation...

IF (and that is a big IF) a deal gets done this season, the negotiation will start next monday & the deal would be done that day or tuesday. Looking at the schedule, the Habs have 2 series of back-to-back games (tues-wed, sat-sun), against non-elite teams (Sens twice, Jets and Sabres). At the end of that stretch they'll be 8 games in and both sides will have a good idea of where the team stands and one or the other will likely be in a position to make a move.

If it doesn't get done then, well, I can't see why there would be any urgency once they've accepted that there's no basis for an agreement. Nor is there any purpose to a trade.

Just wait, in three years we get to go through it all again when brother Malcom thinks he should be paid like the best 3 goalies in the league

Subbans camp should understand that the precedent has been set. The offer to him is pretty much the same as what Price got on his second contract. Subban or his agent should know Montreal will not give him anything more then what Price signed for.

We're doing fine without him. Make a good trade or get some draft choices.

They signed him...OK, bring on the Forsberg out of retirement stories and don't stop the sky is falling in Phoenix but we possibly have an owner for the Coyotes stories.
