09:27 PM ET 01.28 | The NFL is currently suffering an epidemic of dead and diseased players. From Junior Seau and Dave Duerson to the countless many suffering from dementia and other awful mental illnesses from their playing days, the NFL has a serious problem on its hands and it's starting to scare people away from the sport. People in the stands are fine, it's the fans with sons that are uneasy about letting their loved ones become involved in a game that can destroy your brain. President Obama took a stance opposing the direction the NFL has been trending, and now the wife of a current player has put her foot down and said her son will not follow in his father's footsteps. Jay Cutler's wife, Kristin Cavallari told DNAinfo.com that while she supports her husband's career, she will not be allowing their son, Cam Cutler, to play football.

I don't care what Cutler's wife says, nor what the wives of Brady, Welker, etc, have to say about it. Just because they share a house and bed and therefore see up close ONE player daily does not make them experts. Her statements are for Pierz Morgan or The View, not a sports blog. What's next, going to get Snooki's opinion?

If I owned an NFL franchise I'd be selling about now.
Between the coming lawsuit awards and the unwillingness of insurance carriers to cover brain injury liability that business's profitability is disappearing.

All these people coming out saying their not going to let their kid play football is kinda stupid. How many high school kids playing football suffer serious brain injuries, I would say probably about 0. Look I don't know the numbers and I'm making these up... but I would say probably less than 5% of the kids who play high school go on to play college, and less than 1% of those make the NFL. So the likelihood that Obama's son (if he had one) or Cutler's kid would ever make it to the college level or NFL (where the head injuries are most likely) is pretty minimal.

Actually, I appreciate the efforts of those who use colorful if somewhat outdated words instead of common modern vulgarity. Thank you, Otis. We should all use words like "trollop" and "strumpet" more in our everyday speech, particularly when the Nanny Filter blocks ****.
