Trade, pay cut still on table for Vick

07:57 AM ET 01.29 | The clock ticking toward a resolution on Michael Vick's NFL future isn't moving quickly. Much has been made of the fact that $3 million of [Vick's] $16.5 million deal with the Eagles becomes guaranteed if he is on their roster come Feb. 6, but sources said that issue is not a concern at this time, and it's unlikely Vick's contract will be resolved before then. New coach Chip Kelly is evaluating the situation and how Vick fits in his spread offense. The Eagles are determining how much they might be willing to pay Vick, if they do ask him to take a pay cut. ... Neither side is being hasty in forcing a conclusion, and the Eagles still could wind up dealing Vick, for instance, once the league year begins March 13.

i think he'll take a paycut to stay w/ the team, i think he's excited about playing in a spread offense...the eagles will still prolly take Geno to groom

It really is time for the Eagles to scoop everything that's not working into the dumpster and start over. If they can get trade value for Vick, fine, but my guess his Vick's agent will be working the phones in free agency.
My advice to the other 31 NFL GMs is to let the machine screen your calls for a while.

I'd imagine that if the Eagles plan to draft Geno Smith (if KC doesn't take him), then it will be at #4 overall, and Vick will likely be out the door. I bet Vick is a goner in Philly any way you cut it, guy just ain't that good.

I don't know I'd put him in the bottom half of starters. He isn't accurate at all, can't read a defense and takes off running before letting plays develop. Also his tendency to run has caused him to be injured all the time, can't be any help if he's always on the sideline. I personally think he may have to settle for a back-up job or go to a team that's looking for someone to compete. My guess for Vick in 2013, the N.Y. Jets... he can compete with Sanchez and JaMarcus Russell.

His record of injury says otherwise. It's been a long, long time since he played a full season of football, and his age is already catching up with him.
But, he will be a decent backup somewhere, and might even earn a starter spot somewhere. He's got a year or two left if he can stay healthy.

Ready or not, teams rarely sit their 1st round QB anymore.

If you pay him the 3 million, you either start him or trade him

I'm not making a comment if it helps or hurts their development, it's just the way it is. I fully expect Geno Smith will be the starting QB for whichever teams drafts him by week 1. The only recent QBs I can think of that have sat any significant portion of their rookie years would be Jake Locker, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn... heck even Matt Leinart started 11 games his rookie year.

He's an inaccurate passer, he runs more than he needs to and he's so fragile at this point his name should be Michelle. No thanks.

Vick is finished. Any money a team spends on this has-been is wasted.

Does anyone really thnk this guy is worth anything? He has accomplished almost nothing in his career. Why is he still in the league...I guess desparate teams can't distinguish between value and media hype.
