Raptors actively trying to acquire Gay

08:01 AM ET 01.29 | Rudy Gay is already on record as saying he's comfortable being moved, and he's back in the speculation mill. The Memphis Grizzlies continue to field calls from teams interested in [Gay] and are engaged in active trade discussions with the Toronto Raptors, sources with knowledge of the talks told Although the framework of a workable trade has not yet been established, sources told that Toronto -- known to be perhaps Gay's most determined suitor -- has continued to make a hard push for the swingman. The Grizzlies, though, maintain that last week's luxury-tax-slashing trade with Cleveland means they no longer feel the same pressure to move Gay or another high-priced player before the NBA's Feb. 21 trade deadline.

The Griz are sitting in fourth place in the Western Conference, their under the tax, and to me play out the season with Gay, and after that move him if you still want to.

Toronto can make a trade for Bobbie. He is starting material for a team like them. :) (SMDH)

Come To LA, Bro.

On second thought, maybe DeRozan for Gay can work out.

Get off the Drugs... Derozan isn't going anywhere...

The only way gay is going to be moved before the deadline is with a guaranteed high draft pick and a quality swing man. It would take Calderon, 1st round pick, and Landry Fields.

Grizz you got rid of the luxury tax issue by gutting your bench...if you dont want Gay then just say it...personally I dont blame you but be honest.

Shouldn't the Raps be taking to get the #1 pick in 2014 (local boy Andrew Wiggins)

January 29, 2013  11:33 AM ET

Er, no write to goodly today

January 29, 2013  11:34 AM ET

Than they're not getting Gay! You think Memphis is stupid just accept scrubs and some picks?

I actually would prefer the Raptors not to get Rudy Gay. Terrence Ross is playing pretty well and Rudy Gay would take valuable minutes away from this kids development.

Somewhere Rudy Gay is quietly fuming about this...

January 29, 2013  12:45 PM ET

I hope that the Raptors get gay, because w/ him, they will be a legitimate playoff threat for years to come. And TO have the pieces to do it. They can send the expiring contract of Jose Calderon along with Andre Bargnarni and it will an even trade. The Grizzlies can save 10 million and get a player in AB that can virtually score anywhere on the court.

Bargs may not be the best rebounder or an ideal post player, but he would make a welcome addition to an already strong front court of Randolph and Gasol. Can u picture him coming off the bench giving 15 to 18 points and giving a matchup nightmare for opposing second unit. Include that with the idea of having an elite veteran guard in Jose Calderon backing an already accomplished point man in Mike Conley can make any Memphis hoop fan swoon.

January 29, 2013  03:32 PM ET

There's only one question that matters, What are you offerng?

January 29, 2013  03:33 PM ET

Bargnani is due 10 mill this year, 11 mill, next and 12 in 14/15. I don't see Memphis paying that type of money to him to come off the bench and be a roll player. The deal that makes more sense might be Calderon and either Derozan/Ross for Rudy. Calderon and Derozan comes off the books this year therefore giving Memphis flexiblity. Raptors get a true go to player better than what they have, Memphis get cheaper salary and lower cost Rudy replacement perhaps
