Mets pay secret visit to Bourn

08:05 AM ET 01.29 | While it remains a longer shot, general manager Sandy Alderson has placed the franchise in the running. [The] Mets have not given up on being Bourn winners. To that end, [Alderson] and assistant GM John Ricco travelled to Houston last week to have dinner with free agent center fielder Michael Bourn and his agent, Scott Boras, The Post has learned. It was more a getting-to-know-you session than a dollars-and-cents negotiation, at a time when the dollars and cents remain among the most significant hurdles in doing a deal. The Mets' strategy has essentially been this: Patiently wait and hope Bourn's market evaporates as spring training nears, moving him to a) turn to them as the best remaining option and b) lower his financial demands.

What Bourn needs,,,in order to get that big mega contract,,,,,he would need to score at least a 145 runs per season/he would need to hit 30 to 40 homeruns per season/he would need to drive in at least a 120 R,B,I,S per season/anybody DO THINK he would likely be able to bring in those numbers??? DOUBTFULL, that whay he shouldn't be asking for too much money been payed in hig long term contract, those are goals and achievements that bourn wouldn't be able to meet; compromised when you have plenty security in your capabilities otherwise, don't demand big money towards any organization,,,,,,

Alderson has no money, but he does offer a media platform for a player who after one year can give the mets First right of refusal or go off to free Agency, they keep piling up those old pitchers maybe one or 2 of them might win or save some games!
