Questions about slumping Suter irk Yeo

08:14 AM ET 01.29 | For a pair of players who signed identical blockbuster contracts in Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, living up to them has been a study in contrasts. Five games into their tag-team tenure, Parise has received universal praise while Suter hears daily reminders about his slow start. That part bothers Wild coach Mike Yeo, who defended his All-Star defenseman Monday when asked if he senses any frustration from Suter over his uneven play. ... "The expectations have to be fair," Yeo repeated. "You don't measure what Ryan Suter does just by goals and assists. You don't get the opportunity to see the kind of person he is behind the scenes and the leadership that he brings. There's so many subtleties in his game."

They're going to be far more irked when they realize he's nothing without Shea.

Coach Yeo is getting defensive already. Too bad his team hasn't.

I'm both incredibly surprised and incredibly disappointed that Suter has not lived up to the insane contract the Wild gave to him...

It takes two to tandem. Weber's pointless in Nashville right now. Although I think once Ellis matures, the two could make for a pretty good first pair.
I don't see much hope for Minnesota solving their D problems in the short term.

The Preds are having a difficult time finding the back of the net so far.

I thought the leadership behind the scenes was the GM's role??? Stop making excuses!!!

embarrassing effort on Preds part.......and losing Hornquist didn't help....Trotzie is probably going to burst a vein in his forhead if things don't change quick...and as for Suter....his play reminds me of how CJ2K performed after his $52 million contract...disappeared....unfortunately, we still have CJ around....

Teams are gonna have to learn not to try to skimp on contracts. Give these guys the money they deserve, even if they don't deserve it. Everybody tries to get team on the cheap. :)

I was happy to see the Canadians hold strong and only give PK prove it to us money.

When he was open for bidding and there appeared to be somewhat of a frenzy I couldn't understand it.

Amen. As many on this forum have already said the entire lockout this season was, to put it kindly, mostly due to idiotic owners giving idiotic contracts to ensure losing money. The Subban fiasco will hopefully be a learning experience for most other franchises.

I think so. And hopefully it also serves as a teaching lesson for agents that having players hold out is also a bad idea and will get them nowhere.

I think that is a lesson that agents will NEVER learn.

ultimately the agent serves the client. I know that some guy like Boras make it about themselves...but hockey agents aren't that bad.
In this case it was Meehan acting on a mandate given to him by Subban. If the client is out to lunch with his demands and refuses to listen, then what's the agent supposed to do?

What does this say about scouting departments and talent evaluators on these teams? Don't they get the connection that Suter was so good cos he played with Weber?
Nobody expects…
