St. Louis Rams decide not to hire Rob Ryan

01:48 PM ET 01.29 | Twice it has been reported that Rob Ryan would become the defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams and now twice that has proven to be false information. After numerous "credible" reports had Ryan going to the Rams more than just once, the team has decided to end all of the hearsay and make it official: Rob Ryan has not and will not be hired by the Rams. St. Louis cite discussions with Ryan that revealed differences that couldn't be bridged as the reason they will continue to look for a defensive coordinator. One of the sticking points might be the fact that Ryan runs a 3-4 defense, and did so in both Cleveland and Dallas (unsuccessfully, mind you). The Rams ran a 4-3 defense last season and did so very successfully.

That over-bearing personality + the need for a haircut = a killer.

Apparently Rob Ryan thinks more of Rob Ryan than the Rams do. No surprise there.

I think he was using NFL "5 minutes." With enough time outs, out of bounds plays, and incomplete passes, it can seem like an eternity.
