Randy Moss says he's the greatest WR of all-time

01:49 PM ET 01.29 | Randy Moss is playing in yet another Super Bowl, so it's not his first time in front of a global audience. While he didn't pull a Joe Flacco-like slip of the tongue, Moss did say something that rubbed a few people -- at least one in particular -- the wrong way. Speaking in front of the Super Bowl media, Moss said that he is the greatest wide receiver of all time, but 49ers legend Jerry Rice seems to disagree with him. The numbers don't lie, and while all of the respect most of us had for Rice went down the toilet when he openly said Bill Callahan threw the Super Bowl, Rice is still the best receiver of all-time. But Moss is a very close. Rice is without a doubt the best receiver to ever play the game, and while Moss may be very close to him, the field gets very cluttered once you step beyond Rice's name. Moss has the single season touchdown record, he's less than 1,000 yards from having the second most yards of all-time and he's currently got the second most career touchdowns locked up for quite some time.

He might not have the best numbers, but at his best no other receiver ever was as feared by defenses as was Randy Moss. Rice never had the speed that Randy Moss did. Moss also has the single season receiving TD record over Rice. Given a choice I'd take Moss over Rice in their primes.

I'm not sure that I agree, but I guess it depends on your offensive scheme and what other receivers you have.

Randy had great pure, raw talent, but the work ethic wasn't always there. There were too many occasions where one had to wonder whether Randy was going to give 100%. I don't think there was ever that kind of worry with Jerry.

Rice was automatic. You never knew play-to-play what Randy you were going to get.

Could heve been and he has Randy Moss to blame for it, it's too late now!

The great ones don't have to tell everybody how great they are; what a butt head!

Agreed. He certainly had the potential to surpass Rice, but lacked the attitude. He mailed it in for 2 years with the Raiders, and you can't claim the title with effort (or lack thereof) like that. Really, he had 6-7 really good years with the Vikings, 1 great year with the Patsies, and has been a cry-baby, prima donna **** for the rest of his career.
Even worse, since Rice is pretty much universally accepted as the best football player ever, regardless of position, then wouldn't this mean that Moss thinks he is the greatest football player ever, regardless of position??? He's not even in the discussion...

Think what his numbers could have been if he had been a true professional and given his best effort all the time rather than only when it suited him. The HOF voters will ding him for his lack of effort on the field as much as for his numbers. The greatest receiver, NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Yes, he's the greatest of all time -- if the category is "idiot" or "moron" or the like.

He did not discipline himself and when things went bad early in a game it was rare for him to bounce back. Emotionally he was a wreck, he needed support but people shied away from him!

Randy is a good one but the best?
