04:00 PM ET 01.29 | Joe Flacco is sorry for saying Monday that an outdoor cold-weather Super Bowl is a "****" idea, a statement he tried to take back as soon as he said it. "Obviously, it was a bad choice of words. I wish I hadn't said it," the Baltimore Ravens' quarterback said Tuesday during Super Bowl XLVII Media Day. "I have a great relationship with Special Olympics back in Baltimore and have had one for many years. I didn't mean to offend anybody, but I definitely apologize for it."

I agree they should get over it now that he apologized but he can't equate "****" and "stupid" and not expect to get some deserved backlash.

Flacco is a fairly smart guy and for sure he knows he should have used better wording.

It's an interesting situation. When I was a kid the offensive word in question was the word used by medical personnel at the time to describe people with those problems. Kids started using the word as an insult and it became politically incorrect. Like most offensive words it's just a word and only offensive because somebody chose to define it as such. This is a non-story.

so a game played in the snow 2 weeks before is ok...but if it's the super bowl played in *gasp* the elements, it's a horrible idea?
Not too sure I've ever heard anything intelligent come out of Flacco's mouth, and I guess he didn't decide to start today.

Now that he's apologized, I hope people do get over it. It is a demeaning word to some, though. Flacco's an intelligent guy, and he knows now he could've chosen a better word.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. "That" word is and has been offensive to a lot of people for a long time, not just recently.

Trouble with bad weather sites is just that 50-80,000 people trying to get in some snowy place at the same time. It happened at the Silverdome in Pontiac, a mess.

You're right, it's not a bad idea, it's a moronic idea. Who the heck wants to side outside on a freezing winter night for 4 hours and pay $3000 for the privilege. Never mind the old line that football should be played outdoors. It has nothing to do with tradition, it's business, and this is bad for business.

There's always going to be some person, group or entity offended by something.
These problems could all be avoided if we all just sat in 24/7 silence, never speaking, a word. Although then deaf/mute people would likely think we were mocking them. So you really can't win.
