This is chips for Brian. Unfortunately his age and injuries have conspired to make him a liability on the field. What the Bears should do - after he shops himself vainly on the open market - is make a place for him in the organization. People really like the guy in Chi.

Are the Bears allowed to talk to Urlacher yet? I thought the new CBA had restrictions on talking to players before a certain date. As I recall this came up last year when the Colts couldn't ask Peyton Manning about his neck during the offseason until a certain date and when Ben R couldn't talk to his new OC in Pittsburgh.

I think you mean Steve McNair but your point is valid. Players say they understand it's a business but when their time comes to be set aside it's still a tough pill to swallow.
