08:10 AM ET 01.30 | So much for being reunited. Andy Pettitte's flirtation with pitching for Joe Torre and Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic is over. Pettitte has decided to skip the event, according to his agent, Jim Murray, which doubtless makes the Yankees happy. The Yanks had "voiced concern" about Pettitte pitching, Torre said last week, because of the lefty's recent injury history. Pettitte, 40, missed nearly three months last year with a broken leg, although he returned before the end of the season. Pettitte was not on Team USA's provisional roster, but Torre was holding a spot for him. The final roster isn't due until Feb. 20, and Torre said he and Pettitte were going to mull over the pitcher's participation.

wiseup: All the More reason to do away with The WBC. Why have your pitchers out there throwing extra innings that might make a difference in Sept. and possibly in Oct. Also you risk a player pulling a hamstring or taking a pitch on your hand breaking a bone, and out for a couple of weeks into season. Why risk your players for an exhibition. If you want to field a team select players from Triple A and DoubleA . That would give them some exposure to top line pitching and showML club what you can do.

Save what? This PED encrusted POS should have been booted out of the game years ago. He is a lying sack of %&$ and reasonable Yankee fans are embarrassed by him.
