04:38 PM ET 01.30 | Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin thought it would be a good idea to deliver a straight jab to the chest of his fellow conference coach and current national champion. As a result, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has a new nickname. "There's this guy down at Alabama," Franklin said to a group of high schoolers at Central High School in Macon, Ga. "I think his name is Nicky Satan. You guys have probably heard of him before. I'm going to outwork him."

Interesting that his own SEC comrades would compare him to the Devil himself.

James Franklin = Tin Man?

Makes you wonder which blogs/message boards Franklin likes to frequent.

He can try to outwork Saban, but he'll never be able to outrecruit him.

Oddly enough I just looked at the last poll rankings and did not see Vandy anywhere in the top 10. Bama was number 1. So then I looked at 247Sports recruiting rankings and Did not see Vandy in the top 10. Bama was number 1. So I went over to Rivals and looked there. Vandy was still not in the top 10. Bama was number 3. Why the heck would ANYONE care what someone at Vandy says. It is the equivalent to your 7 year old child telling you that they are better at basketball than you.

So true. But hey don't bash Vandy to hard. Us folks of eastern division teams have been enjoying watching Vandy come to town for years. Always fun seeing your favorite team whack 50-60 on a divisional opponent.

And as far as Franklin goes, he says this about a coach who's not on his schedule next season. Bit cowardly to talk about the guy on top when you don't have to go against him....

The real point of this article is he says he will outwork Coach Saban. Well, a lot of people have said that before and a lot of people are now coaching in other venues. I suspect Coach Saban will weather the storm.

Let's give credit where credit is due. He has taken Vandy to their best season in possibly forever. That does not mean they are going to threaten Alabama in the near future, though.
