Turner helping sink Sixers' revival

08:07 AM ET 01.31 | The plan in Philly was to bring in Andrew Bynum and turn the Sixers over to the young core of Bynum, Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner. Bynum still isn't on the court. You probably noticed. Holiday is having an excellent season, an All-Star campaign. And then there is Turner. ... [Against the Wizards,] he dribbled for almost 24 seconds, got blocked, and then got called for a shot clock violation. You know those basketball training videos they show to kids? That sequence was the opposite. It is impossible to know what to make of Turner. He has been in the league for three years. He's as big a mystery now as he was when he was drafted -- perhaps bigger. If you pretend to know how Turner will play on any given night, you're kidding yourself.

Yes, he has been something of an enigma, and with Bynum not in uniform and on the court it has hurt this team moving forward. Turner coming out of college had a lot of high hopes and from the very moment he was seen in a Sixers uniform he looked lost and out of place; as if he wanted to be college. I don't know if Bynum will change things if and when he does get on the court and I don't believe that Bynum compliments any of the current Sixers on the roster other than True Holiday. Bringing Gay to Philly would have been a great move; maybe he will be available in the near future.

Very well put... to add to what you are saying though I find that he plays scared when he is on the floor.. not much confidence or a sense of drive in him.. It's like he is just going through the motions out there on the floor... Kid is way too passive...

OK....so the kid made a bonehead play.
He's still averaging about 15 pts and 7 rebounds a game.....and has gone from a 25% 3-point shooter over his first two seasons to a 41% 3-point shooter this season.
He's never gonna be an all-star, but once this team becomes more balance....with more scoring options (Bynum), expect him to become more efficient.

Apple you are still the number one Sucka on Fannation. Yeah Philly gave the Knicks work last week. It happens, any team can get beat on any given night if one team is off. Them threes are not going to drop every game for the Knicks. Back to Turner he is inconsistent but he has improved much over last year. He is second in assist/game for SF with 4.5/game shooting 40% from 3. Overall he has improved his game and doing much what Iggy has done in the past except he is not as good on defense and in the open court as a finisher. You talking about Holiday just tells me you need to watch the games or keep your comments in your head. Holiday is 3rd in assists in the league and average 19points per game.

Well.....what's expected of any player is the abilitly to improve their game over their first three years.
And this kid is now shooting over 41% from 3-point range. I think that's pretty darn good.
Also.....except for rebounds per minutes played, this kid's efficiency has increased in every offensive and defense category this season over last season.
Say what you will but Turner has improved his game considerably over the past season. I think he'll be fine.

Haha no he is the perfect fit. He will not command a max salary and is who I think he is. A second option or 3rd. Does plenty of things good not great but still improving. You have a Turner on your team and you don't have to give him max salary and are able to keep him at a reasonable rate. This article is reaching... to get clicks.

Yeah people as a Sixers fan trust me Turner has improved tremondously and has improved his jumper. He gives 14ppg, 4.5 ass and 6.7 rebounds is excellent production. Everyone doesn't progress at the same rate. If we redid the draft today would he go 2nd probably not but I like what he is giving the Sixers.
Top ten in SF in 3FG% entire league
Top ten in SF in Assist/game position entire league
Top ten in Rebouns/game in his position entire league
I don't know what some of yall expect.

I agree.
This kid will be a solod role player for several years to come.....and he won't be too expensive, either.
I expect him to eventually be a 15 point, 7 rebound per game player over the next three years or so. And at 35% to 40% from the 3-point line, he'll hell Holiday strecth the defense for Bynum.
Yep....he's a good fit in Philly. The writer of that article was likely a big Iggy fan.
