Auburn in danger of losing impact recruit

08:14 AM ET 01.31 | Down the stretch they come, and Auburn is among the schools whose recruiting haul hangs in the balance. The Tigers are one of the more intriguing programs heading into Signing Day because all eyes are on new head coach Gus Malzahn as he returns to The Plains after a one-year hiatus as head coach at Arkansas State. Auburn once had verbals from arguably three of the nation's top 15 prospects, and only defensive end Carl Lawson remains of the trio. And keeping him could be challenging. Malzahn will be able to re-install his offense and get pieces to plug in and make the unit effective. But the Tigers need impact defenders, as well. So it will be interesting to see if Lawson remains committed.

They aren't going to keep him. Their class is going to have one 5 star and that guy has bats in his head.

Lawson is a beast, very sharp level headed player that plays smart and with a purpose.

Raptor - Joe is talking about Rueben Foster. He is most likely going to recommit to Auburn. Lawson is on the fence. Many feel he could go to Clemson. Others think he'll stay with Auburn. We'l find out next week.

So Reuben Foster is Batman, OK.

I guess if your 18 years old, have a four year old daughter, college coaching staffs are changing every week and you trying to make a decision that could impact the rest of your life and you're confused, then you "have bats in your head."

Honestly I think Ruben is playing the system for the visits. I don't think he ever intended to not commit to AU.

You could be right. The visits to other credible schools may have been legit. But Sand Diego State? I think he made that trip just to hand with his best friend.

RF will stay uncommitted to AU. HE KNOWS what program will make him a 1st round draft pick in a few years and it AIN'T AUBIE. Can you guess where he will sign??? HINT...........they have three crystal footballs, their beloved coach wrestled a bear AND they have a 61-7 record in the last 5 years!! LOL!! You guessed it!!!! ROOOLLLL TIDE!!

Lawson has been committed to Auburn for almost 2 years... if he were going to decommit, he would have done it when Johnson and Foster did, yes he's taking his official visits, but he's just living it up while he can, Lawson and Foster will end up at Auburn
