From top to bottom, Avs in denial

08:20 AM ET 01.31 | Joe Sacco and Avs, without Gabe Landeskog, Steve Downie or Ryan O'Reilly, slipped to 2-4-0 Wednesday night and it may not get easier. [It] kind of feels like the second half of 2010-11 all over again. That train wreck of a second half was marked by lots of injuries to key guys, and an utter inability to make up for their losses. ... That is what this group seems like to me. Yet, Sacco says just a win in Calgary [Thursday] will make it 3-4 and give things a nice, positive lift heading back to Denver, where, you know, things always go so well for the Avs. I know this is what Sacco has to say. And my biggest criticism of this organization isn't with him saying that, but with the tone-deaf upper management that tries to rule by fear and denial.

Maybe the Stars and Avs need to play a back-to-back and see which team is bad and which is mediocre.

January 31, 2013  09:01 AM ET

So, if they don't win in Calgary, then what?

January 31, 2013  09:02 AM ET

It's still early don't get your panties in a knot

January 31, 2013  09:32 AM ET

What do they expect when their top line is on the top shelf?

When your front office doesn't know anything about putting a good product on the ice and the coach knows even less, it's easy to see why Avs fans have little to be enthused about. There is talent on the team. What's needed is a major overhaul from the coaching staff on UP.

I might have waited to win before giving the nice, positive talk, because if they don't win, negativity will be the positive result.

Must "not" see TV.

If Gabriel Landeskog can become Gabe, then maybe there's hope yet that Dougie Hamilton can become Doud Hamilton (much to the delight of a certain FN poster)

They'll have the inside track for that 1st overall pick in this year's draft ... if Calgary cooperates.
