08:17 AM ET 01.31 | Given the chance again, perhaps Vanderbilt football coach James Franklin would have avoided the remark. [Franklin] said he phoned Alabama's Nick Saban on Wednesday to apologize for referring to the four-time national championship coach as "Nicky Satan." Franklin, who made the reference Monday at a Macon (Ga.) Central High sports banquet, said it was meant strictly as a joke. Video of the speech has gone viral. "Obviously, tremendous respect for Coach Saban," Franklin said. "I just got off the phone with him. Tremendous respect for them. I've got tremendous respect for what they've done. Everybody is chasing them. The guy has won three or four national championships. ... Franklin said that Saban was "good" with the situation.

A joke is a joke is a joke........who really cares.......Bama doesn't need media attention...they have their attention in the trophy case in Tuscaloossa......Franklin should have commented about that "Blue Blazer" in the pic.....looks like a case of "What Not To Wear".........

Bama has more problems (Deer Antler Spray) then, Franklin calling Saban "Nicky Satan"!!!!

Coach Saban doesn't even care about this. Any coach that would let that get under his skin would never be a successful coach. Coach has more important things to worry about.

That's not even an issue. Lol.

JK, I really hope for you Bama fans that it isn't "an issue"!!! I remember saying exactly the same thing about the Reggie Bush and USC case, before the NCAA put them on sanctions!!!

Situations are completely different, man. Hell, there were two doctors yesterday that said that you cannot even administer the banned substance in aerosol form.
The very worst that could come from this is the NCAA comes out and reiterates that igf-1 or whatever it is, is a banned substance.
In USC's case there was an actual house and car in question.

Additionally, after what is going on with the Miami case, the NCAA has bigger fish to fry, like getting their investigational house in order.

That's probably true about aerosol b/c then you'd have to breath it in. But the articles I've read say SWATS has a spray that is sprayed under the tongue. That sounds like a liquid to me.
It's the NCAA, common sense and fair rulings are not their SOP.
So, who knows what they could do based on flimsy evidence....

Okay, good luck, but if the NFL comes down hard on Ray, then I'm sure it will carry over to Bama.!!!!! :-)

JK, the main point "In USC's case there was an actual house and car in "question"!!!! You stated "question" and I'm talking about "concrete" evidence!!! The NCAA didn't know for sure where the Reggie Bush's parent's house or Reggie's old car came from!!! The NCAA was going off of a testimony of an ex con, who had lied under oath, in other testimonies.

James Franklin is "spot-on" on this assessment of saban--- Vandy is the ONLY SEC school that actually considers academics as part of their sports programs--
Saban couldn't care less that half his team doesn't graduate... long as they play 60 minutes...

Oh, believe me, I know about NCAA and how fair they are. We were one of the first of their "fair" rulings.
The doctors I heard discounted both liquid form and areosol breathing form. What's most likely happening here is these guys are peddling sugarwater with a few over the counter grocery type spices and calling it Deer Spray and trying to scam people with it.

That could be that it's just sugar water or that these doctors just aren't up on the new tech. I've seen adds running on TV for Testosterone cream and it used to be that any thing like that had to be injected into a big muscle to be absorbed.
We'll all have to see if any more proof comes out than an owner of SWATS stupidly outing his customers. However, even though HGH is on the banned list for the NFL and NCAA I don't thnik either one tests for it b/c that would require a blood test. And I don't believe either do more than urine tests at this time. So, there will be no one failing a test unless a blood test is someone taken/ordered.

After a considerable time at Vandy, you'd think that Franklin would be more droll. "Lucifer's Vessel" is both more concise and more erudite.

I believe you're misinformed. Bama's football graduation rate is 67%, not far below the national average. (http://www.rollbamaroll.com/2010/10/27/1778529/alabama-sec-graduation-rat es) It would be higher if not for the NFL draft.
