10:50 AM ET 01.31 | Ottawa Senators forward Jason Spezza has elected to undergo surgery to repair an issue with his back. As of Thursday morning, it remains unclear how much time Spezza will miss or the extent of his injury. having previously missed three days of practice and two games, head coach paul MacLean stated on Wednesday that Spezza was still being evaluated. However, he also admitted that he potentially could miss a considerable amount of time. If Spezza does undergo surgery, it will mark the second time in his career that he has required a surgical procedure to fix an issue in his back. In May of 2006, he required surgery to fix a herniated disc.

Based on the result of last nights game, it looks like he wasn't missed.

You'd think he wouldve addressed this in the off-season.

Judging by his entire career, the Sens won't miss him that much.

He was impressive last year. Now he's putting up MVP performances. I'm guessing somewhere in between is where he truly lies - above average goalie.

He's got consistently good stats. He seems like one of those under the radar guys that willalways have his team in a position to win. I was a big fan of the move when ottawa acquired him.
