Rays interested in Phillies' Helms?

You have to believe that the Phillies are already scouting the landscape to see what teams might be looking for Wes Helms to help at third. There is some disagreement in the Rays front office over whether superprospect Evan Longoria would be better served by playing in the big leagues this season or getting another year of experience in the minors.

The perennially last place Rays are wondering if their top prospect is ready for the Big Leagues? Longoria hit .300/.402/.921 in AA and AAA last season with 26 HR's and 95 RBI's. What more do you front office guys need to see? Play the kid the entire season and let him alone. Wes Helms does NOTHING for the future of your team. When in doubt, go with the kids. See what the youth movement did for the Rockies, Red Sox, Brewers and Yankees last season?

How about signing Ryan Howard already? Pay him!! Give the Rays Helms for 10 synthetic basbealls, a bag of used David's Sunflower Seeds, 2 Tampa Ray's game programs, and 40 (oz) of Keystone. Still a rip off, but eh...
