08:07 AM ET 02.01 | As the Lakers prepared for their visit to Minnesota, Wolves point guard Ricky Rubio had more than a few kinds words about opponent and fellow Spaniard Pau Gasol. "[Gasol] proved to the league he is one of the best," Rubio told reporters in Minneapolis. "He can pass. He can shoot. He can rebound. He can do a lot of things. I think if you use him in the right way, he is a top player in this league. If they don't want him, we are more than welcome to get him." Gasol has voiced his frustration multiple times this season, especially on his recent move to the bench. "It's been the last two years that it seems like they don't want him, but actually they need him," Rubio said. "He's a great player."

Ricky is speaking as if Gasol comes cheap. If Gasol was getting paid much less he would have been moved by now. Sidenote if the Chris Paul LA deal would have went down he would have been in Houston. Stern and other owners cancelled that.

Well said.

But it's not Pau's defense that is killing them.

It's Kobe.

Kobe should stop trying to fool us by pressing up on his man like he is playing lock down defense, then chase from behind wondering why Pau or DH didn't step up and help as he is being taken to the rim.

Someone out there would spin this into a lame comment about sexual innuendo and Kobe's past, so I'm calling it out right now.

It honestly hadn't occurred to me until you mentioned it, but it IS clear Ghost was innuendoing.

Just one Spaniard sticking up for another. We saw the same thing in San Antonio, when Parker welcomed his countryman Boris Diaw.

Wouldn't quite be a warm and fuzzy story if a white guy made a point of praising another white guy though. That would be considered racist.

Poor white guys...

True, still I would try to keep Gasol.
The LA biggest problem is D'umbtoni. That guy won't budge for Gasol, so either Pau figure it out or LA will unfortunately trade him soon or next season.
