08:13 AM ET 02.01 | Count Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday among the critics of baseball's current policy on performance-enhancing drugs. [During a satellite radio appearance, Holliday recently] explained to the hosts how his opinion on the current penalties has changed and how he believes in a two-strikes-and-you're-out policy. ... "I'd go first time (you get caught) you miss a full season, 162 games you're out," Holliday said, according to a transcript of the show provided to The Post-Dispatch. "And then the second time I think you are suspended for a lifetime with the eligibility after two years maybe to apply for reinstatement. That's what I would do. I feel like that's pretty harsh but I think that's what we need."

Yeah I think the current penalties are not harsh enough soon enough to be effective. No lifetime ban until a 3rd failed test. Failure 1 should be out the whole year and a monetary penalty (significant in size) that would help MLB fight this problem. 2nd failure and you're done completely.

Holliday doesn't work for MLB. Besides who would he tell? Telling MLB would be a lot like telling the crooked cop about the local gangster paying the cops bribes.

I live out here in the wild west in New Mexico.We have people that get busted over and over DUI and the courts keep letting them off the hook.Their was a bill to crack down on these people but the Roundhouse killed the bill stateing they need help not jail.The next day a drunk driver with 15 DUI's killed a family of 5.Not like baseball we have players that cheat by juicing up thus showing kids it's ok to cheat and doing drugs.The MLB needs to grow some balls and start banning these players for life and not telling them that's ok we understand that you have a cheating promble.

Jose Canseco ratted more than a few guys out and although he was originally accused of being a liar and a fraud(which he is on every other subject), he was vindicated when his accusations turned out to be true.

How'd that work out for him?
