Has Ovechkin lost interest?

08:23 AM ET 02.01 | Alex Ovechkin blew a wrist shot past James Reimer Thursday night for his first road goal of the season, but something seemed different on the whole. After watching Ovechkin play the Leafs, you can't help but think he's not the same guy that won the Hart Trophy two times in his career. You can't help but think that some of his passion is gone, that maybe it's time for a change of scenery. His teammates will tell you otherwise, that he is still working hard, that the passion is still there. ... [Other than his power play goal and a burst near the end of the third period], the Russian was more or less invisible. He disappeared for long stretches of the game and when you did notice him, he looked disinterested.

Here.....we.......go....

I reserved judgment early on mostly because I hadn't really watched the Caps play, but sorry Slap, here it comes:

This team is awful. Like, truly terribly awful.

I have a theory and it's not Ovi is washed up or needs a change of teams. My guess is with Semin gone he has to take the title of the extremely talented Russian that underperforms

Until the play the Pens on Sunday, and they will find their spark.

Not if the Pens put Vokoun in net. Not only was he stellar last night I hear, but he's got something to prove to the Caps too.

They lost to To***to so enough said Danny.

And really didn't look good in doing so.

Hell, if Phaneuf knew where the net was from the point and Kessel remembered how to do the only thing that makes him a worthy NHLer, this would've been much uglier.

Despite the shut out they need to start MAF Saturday and Vok Sunday against the caps.

MAF has stunk up the place at Consol. AQs soon as the first goal goes in there the flood gates open.

I hear the rumor is that they start Voukon tomorrow, and Fleury Sunday, so the opposite...of course!

There is concern with MAF at Consol. The year they opened the building it took forever for MAF to win one.

Disagree.

The only MAF stinker was the first one against the Isles. Otherwise, no goal he has let in was all that questionable or soft. The team that has been playing in front of him has STUNK up the place, and I feel they play better in front of Voukon.

That being said, this about the Caps stinkin', so let's get back to that.

Maybe he has finally realized that he's never going to win a Stanley Cup and that he's not better than either Crosby or Malkin.

February 1, 2013  10:40 AM ET

The poor lad is probably homesick.

February 1, 2013  10:50 AM ET

I am not a big Caps fan but got mad has hell when he skated around the net twice with time running out and then lost the puck.

February 1, 2013  10:51 AM ET

put him back on the left wing?

February 1, 2013  10:51 AM ET

I'd liek an update from our resident caps fans, please inform me when Ovie has been moved back to the left.
