08:00 AM ET 02.01 | A long-time heart issue has Houston Texans running back Arian Foster facing surgery. [Foster] likely will undergo a heart procedure in about a month after an irregular heartbeat reappeared and forced him out of a Week 16 game against the Minnesota Vikings, NFL Network's Alex Flanagan reported Thursday. Foster has had an issue with his heart since he was 12 years old and has had about eight incidents where his heart began to race uncontrollably. Week 16 was the first time it ever happened during a game, Flanagan reported. ... Doctors told Foster that former NBA player Hakeem Olajuwan had the same ailment. His spells were brought on by drinking cold water. They're trying to figure out what triggers the episode for Foster. He thinks it could be stress.

I think he does but it moved from his chest to his skull. Much more free space up there.

Officially, it says it's a "procedure," which probably means they're going to hook up something like a pacemaker, or maybe just a recording device since they don't know exactly what's going on.

Not like Tedy Bruschi, who had real open-heart surgery. It was right after the Pro Bowl, and he was ready for training camp the next summer.
