'Invisible' Giroux insists he's healthy, not happy

08:24 AM ET 02.01 | For starters, Claude Giroux says he isn't hurt. Despite not having scored a goal since the Flyers' second game of the season and appearing almost invisible at times through many of the games that have followed, the team captain said he's feeling fine -- and had nothing more to say on the matter. He is not, however, satisfied with the effort he's put forth on the ice. "Obviously, I'm not happy with my game," Giroux said after Thursday's rare team practice. "But it's only seven games. It's a long season. I'm staying positive, and things are going to turn around pretty quick." Giroux hasn't looked like his old self in recent days. He's been slow on the backcheck and hasn't been able to make the plays he's become known for.

Umm, no it isn't!

Yeah but I'll take an early slump over a late season slump any day

Can't expect some of these guys to do it all. Once the pressure/spotlight comes off, his production may go up.

It could be worse Claude. I know a certain 'sniper' that scores less than Barney Fife.

Thelma Lou would beg to differ

Wrong.

There are a couple of captains out there in the NHL underperforming. Ahem.

If you're referring to who I think you are, i've seen more highlights of him whining this season than I have of him scoring. It's gotta be getting old for the locals...

Hmm. Really?

Your biased opinion is noted by previously "Cindy" posts.

He took a lot of crap in the Rangers' game last night, and didn't make a peep.

I'm guessing you not referring to when del zotto stuck his stick between his legs so he couldn't turn to protect himself, then drove him head first into the boards. Sid just looked glanced at the ref and skated to the bench.

He isn't. And he isn't referring to the one where Sid got hit twice after Stepan (maybe I am wrong as to which player) hit him twice after the whistle blew.

Just making stuff up as usual. I actually thought to myself last night I was quite pleased how cool Sid acted last night considering the "liberties" people were taking with him. Not normal physical play, but more than that.

As far as other games go, grasping at straws. Sid has been doing it no more/no less than any other player (which has been more than established on this board and in the games), especially in this seven game season so far. Grasping at straws here. Seriously desparate.

Plenty

Can't pull up this video. Is this the Malkin scrum, or Del Zotto hit?

Here's the thing - historically, the Flyers have had slow starts to their seasons. Octobers are generally not very good. They seem to be following that pattern this year, too. Problem is, October is January this year and they have half the number of games to play catch up. If they don't put together a winning streak soon, the playoffs may be out of reach.
