12:50 PM ET 02.01 | UFC President Dana White didn't have kind words for former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Randy Couture at Thursday's media day for UFC 156 in Las Vegas, Nev. Couture has reportedly signed a deal with rival Spike TV to appear in a number of programs including a coaching stint on the first season of Bellator's upcoming reality show. When asked his feelings on the matter, White didn't mince words. "Randy Couture comes off as the greatest guy in the world, Captain America. He's the furthest thing from it, and I'm happy to not be in business with him anymore," he said. "Now I don't have to be in business with him ever again." When prompted that these statements would be surprising to UFC fans who are attached to Couture and recognize him as one of the fighters whose popularity built the company, White fired back they didn't understand the full picture. "99.9 percent of the people, that won't be shocking at all, people that actually know him, not people who watch him on TV," said White.

That seems a bit harsh. I would hardly call him a loser.

Yet another MMA story, like ALL MMA stories, that focus first and foremost on Dana White and his ego... is there any other sports frachise on earth whose biggest star, whose most recognizable name by far, and the focus of nearly EVERY story, is the owner/commissioner? Even Vince McMahon lets a few of the wrestlers get a little pub for themselves, there are stories about the Cowboys that don't focus on Jerry Jones. Just a bizarre situation.
