02:56 PM ET 02.01 | Florida Panthers forward Scottie Upshall is expected to miss a month due an ankle injury. While it remains unclear how or when Upshall sustained the injury, it appears as though he aggravated the area during a fight in the team's 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. After executing a punishing hit, Upshall was challenged to a fight by James Wright. Afterwards, Upshall struggled to his feet and appeared to be favoring his right side and needed help to get off the ice. Earlier that day, it was reported that Upshall was fine after missing practice on Wednesday due to a lower-body injury. While it has yet to be confirmed, it seems likely that his injury is potentially connected.

Figures...he missed a large chunk last season too. We play a decent game last night and another forward goes down with injury....jeez.

Nah, we'll be watching from our sofas as usual.

That's what happens when you cram so many games into a compressed half a season. The pace is torrid with very little time in between to rest up properly. I'm afraid we're going to see a lot of bad injuries the rest of the way.

Seems to be the same story for alot of teams these days.

Very true on both points. I guess it's just frustrating as never could get a feel for how Upshall played last season since he was out so much. Started seeing glimpses and now he's down for the count again. But being a short season, like you said....I can only imagine what the injuries league-wide will be like once the playoffs get here.

Maybe if these guys would stop getting into skirmishes they can't handle they wouldn't be getting hurt...Callahan, being one example.

Yes we will.

The last fairly healthy team standing in April will have a serious advantage.
