05:51 PM ET 02.01 | The trade that landed Jose Calderon in Detroit gave the Pistons some roster flexibility. Caldeon's $10.5 million is off the books next season, and the team is projected to be at least between $20-$23 million under the salary cap. But it's not a given that Calderon is just a short-term rental. The Pistons like what he has to offer and are open to re-signing him. "We've always had a high value on Jose," coach Lawrence Frank said after the Pistons' loss at Indiana on Wednesday. "He's a tremendous competitor. He's a guy who has been top five in the league in assists for the past four or five years. It gives us flexibility moving forward."
