06:26 AM ET 02.02 | Teams are calling the Boston Celtics to inquire about guard Jason Terry's availability, according to CBSSports.com's Ken Berger via Twitter. The Celtics could get under the luxury tax -- they are currently $1.5 million over the tax line -- by trading Terry, according to Berger.

for every dollar you are over the tax this year- you pay a dollar...
so if they are 1.5 million over- they pay 1.5 million in tax....
if they trade someone away, say Terry, they save his contract, plus the 1.5 in tax
NEXT year- it gets a lot more punitive.....its something like- if you are 1-5M over you pay 1.5 dollars per dollar over
5-10 its like 2
up until over 25 million over you pay 4.5 dollars of tax for every dollar over the cap- hence if the lakers have the same payroll next year they will cut a check for about 130 million to the league, lol- NOT gonna happen
