Power surge blamed for half-hour delay at Super Bowl

10:06 PM ET 02.03 | After Jacoby Jones made history with the longest kickoff return in Super Bowl history, something else very bizarre happened, the lights literally went out on New Orleans. Half of the stadium lights went completely dark while the other half of the stadium remained fully lit. As if this Super Bowl wasn't already incredibly weird already, we now have a power outage to delay things. Never before in Super Bowl history has something like this happened, but it's not the only time in an NFL game that something bizarre has caused an unusual delay in the action. Just this season, the sprinkler system went off during a game between the Dolphins and Seahawks. One thing that this delay affects is the flow and momentum of the game. After Jones' kick return to start the half, the momentum was shifting all the way toward the Ravens but this delay puts an immediate kink in the wing they were in.

And the ref's should be banned from ever working a game ever again. Yeah that wasn't holding on the last 4th and goal and can someone please tell me how Williams didn't even get a penalty for intentionally shoving a ref? Enjoy your ring Ray, by hook or by crook I guess.

TRUTH, I assume you have the damning evidence the prosecutors failed to present 13 years ago???

I think it was pass interference, and even bumbling Phill Simms was starting to come around and think something should have been called, but that's a judgement call.
Forget about a penalty, Williams absolutely should have been tossed from the game. Period. You can not touch the refs. No tolerance allowed.

After that debacle, a Super Bowl in New Jersey doesn't sound that bad after-all.

This was one of the few Super Bowls where I sat back with zero team affiliation, consumed a few beers and appetizers with family, and just plain enjoyed the game.
And you know what? The officiating didn't bother me at all.

The ball landed on the ground less than a yard out of bounds which means he could've caught it and had the space to drag both feet. Problem is, we'll never know what would've happened. You hate to see the game get decided by the officials but last nights game was. And they rekicked the field goal because they only gave them 5 on the penalty instead of 10. Even Mr Simms said it should've been more than 5 yards.

I don't think a player gets tossed automatically for touching/pushing a ref. I've seen it in other games where the player wasn't tossed but got a unsportsmanlike 15 yard penalty. A big fine should be comming from the commish as that always happens after a player intentionally contacts a ref.
