08:11 AM ET 02.04 | At 32, Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira, who will hit 33 the week after Opening Day, is not old in the "real" world -- but it's a different story in baseball. "To think that I'm going to get remarkably better, as I get older and breaking down a little bit more, it's not going to happen," Teixeira said. ... There's nothing he can do to justify his enormous $180 million contract, he says. "I have no problem with anybody in New York, any fan, saying you're overpaid. Because I am," Teixeira said. "We all are." "Agents are probably going to hate me for saying it," he continued. "You're not very valuable when you're making $20 million. When you're Mike Trout, making the minimum, you are crazy valuable."

At least he's being honest.

Yup. Kind of telling Yankees fans to not expect much from him this season, irregardless of his contract.

At least the Yankees didnt sign another past his prime, PED using bum this weekend. Oh wait, they were the one who signed Travis Hafner arent they? No way anyone can say the Yankees give a dam if their guys have cheated.

thanks for stating the obvious Tex

Tex and ARod will be awesome in the middle of that lineup in 2015.

To be perfectly honest, every single athlete on the planet is WAY WAY overpaid, but this story is pretty refreshing to hear. While I've always hated the Yankees, and it kills me to say this, I really respect Teixeira for coming out and saying. Good on 'ya Mark!

Well, Scott Boras has already compared Dano to Rogers Horsnsby in his pre talk for next years free agency for Cano. I would ask Scotty to show me where Rogers hit .220 for a year vs left handers.
