08:19 AM ET 02.04 | Part of the reason football recruit Cody Thomas picked Oklahoma was for its baseball program. Soon, the four-star football prospect will have to decide if he's ready to make baseball his full-time job. Thomas (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) is expected to be a high pick in next summer's Major League Baseball Draft, making it possible that Oklahoma's recruiting class of 2013 could ultimately be left without a quarterback. "That'll be further down the road," Thomas said. "Right now, I'm worried about getting to OU, playing football and baseball and enjoying that." ... Thomas is still months away from the MLB Draft, after which he'll have another huge life decision to make. Until then, Thomas plans to stay content as an amateur athlete.

Where is everybody? Lunch time first. Pretty sure the kid can sign a contract for baseball and still play football for Okalahoma. The only obstacle is the inevitable conflict in practice/game schedules.

He lives a couple miles from me. Heritage is a great baseball school, about half the Texas Rangers live in Colleyville. Also a good QB school (C Ponder a few years ago).

Bottom line, if he gets drafted high enough to get paid (top 2-3 rounds), he'll go the baseball route. If so, no football unless he fizzles in minors.

"Baseball has been berry berry good to me." Swing the bat, son. The Sooners will find another to play QB.

No one is going to give him real draft money if he is playing Football - even if the rules allow it.
