08:08 AM ET 02.05 | Credit David Wright for going all-in with the Mets. That includes being a front-line recruiter for Sandy Alderson & Co. Wright told The Post yesterday he has spoken with and exchanged texts with free-agent center fielder Michael Bourn in an attempt to lure him to Citi Field. "I just wanted to let him know that he would be a great addition here and he'd obviously be welcomed here," Wright said after his first early workout at the Mets' spring training complex. "I talked to him a couple weeks ago, and I told him, 'You're always in the right place at the right time, your work counts,'" Wright said. "I've always had great respect for him and the way he plays the game and have always kind of chatted with him when he gets to third base."

It is past the "recruiting" stage. If anything, it's the other way around and Boras/Bourn have to recruit the Mets. Other teams have made their offseason choices for CF. And it is time for Boras to lower Bourn's asking price.

I'll never happen if the Mets have to give up that draft pick....

With spring training two weeks away and Bourn still unemployed he probably would take a deal for a whole lot less this year and go back into the pool next year and try and get the big money. Two reasons the Mets don't need him, number one he will not put them over the top this year, and number two the Mets need all of their draft picks to help rebuild their ball club.

The Mets finished with the 10th worst record. The fact that their pick was bumped to the 11th spot because Pittsburgh could not sign their first round pick is ridiculous.

Without Bourn, the Mets will almost certainly finish in fourth place in the NL East.

As a lifetime Mets hater, I really don't know how to feel about this. Also, it would sting if Bourn went to the Mets. He grew up in Houston and I wish he still played for the Astros. I didn't disagree with trading him just kind of a hometown thing.

Agreed, if they have to give up a pick, it's not worth it! With their Park it should be Pitching, Defense, move the runners and depth on the bench!!! Their ball Park is perfect for running the bases, not home runs!!!

wiseup Bourn's stock is rapidly falling if he wants to play this year. The Mets outfield talent is mediocre at best. Bourn would be a good fit in Mets outfield if the price was right.
