08:15 AM ET 02.05 | Perhaps defensive end Chris Jones deserves some latitude for fibbing when asked about his recruiting trips. [Jones] received death threats this weekend after taking visits to Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The five-star prospect, who is verbally committed to Mississippi State, told ESPN that he received "angry messages" from both fanbases this weekend. "It was a crazy weekend," Jones told ESPN. ... Jones also confirmed that he visited Ole Miss twice this weekend, despite initially denying it to multiple reporters. ... Jones said that he has his mind made up, but won't inform either school of his decision before he publicly announces. He is expected to announce his decision during a press conference at his school on Wednesday.

It's a game ... played on a field ... by 18-20 year olds. Geez people get a life!

If your self-worth revolves around the performance of 18-20 year olds then you REALLY HAVE PROBLEMS!

Get some professional help ... or go to jail for making death threats over a kid's game.

Idiots.

couldn't agree more doc. I follow my Spartans, but never have I had the inclination to reach out and contact any high schooler that they were recruiting. Way over the top.

The more things change the more they stay the same in Mississippi.

Its not just Mississippi-too many college football fan bases have gotten this way. Wish I knew the answer on how to reel them in.

Come to Tennessee, lad. It's in East Tennessee, far from the troubling psychos, but close enough to make the trips back home when you need to do so.

I posted before about it. You should have seen the kind of crap that was happening around one of our recruits, named Cyrus Kouandjio. There were 40+ year old men from a rival posting things on Cyrus K's facebook page about believing in God and making the right decision. The very same guy posted his phone number and said, "If you need to talk about your decision, I'm available."

Creepy, man.
