05:58 PM ET 02.05 | There has been a lot of talk about what the San Francisco 49ers will do with Alex Smith. The quarterback was demoted behind Colin Kaepernick after the midway points of the 2012 season. Discussion has revolved around whether the Niners will try to trade him or simply release him from his contract altogether, but few have suggested that the team actually retain him. Head coach Jim Harbaugh, however, indicated he is very open to the idea. "I have great respect for Alex," Harbaugh said. "Great personal friendship, togetherness with Alex. The team, we feel great about our quarterback situation. You can't enough good quarterbacks."

I'm sure Alex doesn't want to be the official clipboard carrier for the team.

At least if he went to the Cards he'd have some receivers to throw to.

Jim Harbaugh reminds me of Earl Weaver who is the self proclaimed worst loser of all time, Earl was an outstanding baseball mind and manager, little personality, Jim Bo is far behind career wise but well on his way to joining Earl, while I'm watching the game I'm saying to my friends who does he remind you of? Got It!
