08:00 AM ET 02.06 | Receiver A.J. Jenkins, coming off a disappointing season in San Francisco, has decided to hitch himself to a rocket. [Jenkins] today said that wants to return next season as "a totally different player" and that he planned to work out with buddy Colin Kaepernick in Atlanta where he trained before the draft. "Obviously, I want to contribute a lot more than I have been," Jenkins said. "So I'm going to make that happen and come back bigger, faster, stronger." As every 49ers fan knows all too well, Jenkins went through the season without a catch and was lightly utilized even after the team lost Kyle Williams and Mario Manningham. ... He was in uniform during the playoffs but had no passes thrown his way. He played three snaps in the Super Bowl.

Yep. Nothing like being part of a winning team to make you want to be more of a winner. If everyone on the 49ers buys in to this attitude, they will be competitive for a long time to come.

Does he not get thrown to because he doesn't get open, or does he drop the few balls that do come his way?

You might be a bit quick and harsh with your review of Kaepernick. While they did lose the game, somehow they were able to put up 29 points on a pretty good defense. Being nervous in the beginning of the Superbowl is normal and most very good players will admit to not even being aware of their surroundings for the first quarter or so. Kaepernick has started 10 NFL games and with his work ethic is only going to get better. You might dislike him but between Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick I'll take Kaepernick every time and expect to see him win the big game at least once in his career. He's a remarkable talent, Alex Smith is not.

They're my Giants, too. I'm no fan of the 49ers, Jim Harbaugh, or the decision he made with his QBs. But they did get to the SB with essentially a rookie QB, even though he did look like a rookie at times. And they seem to be using the lose as motivation to get better. That will make them dangerous next year.

I guess when a first round pick goes a year with no receptions, then the realization hits them that they are not in Kansas anymore. His choices are two, get better fast or collect as much as he can of that four year $7 million contract and save.

Outplayed by Randy Moss. Now that's a sad epitaph for his NFL tombstone.

" I want to contribute a lot more than I have been.." said AJ. Well, considering The Dalai Lama had the same receiving stats as you did, that is a good idea.

He doesn't get thrown to because he was never even on the field. He only played a handful of plays the entire year. And the 2 times they threw to him he did drop the ball.

That would take a miracle! Can Kaepernick walk on water?
