08:01 AM ET 02.06 | And, still, Michael Vick waits. As expected, the Eagles will take advantage of a provision in [Vick's] contract and won't release the quarterback before a Wednesday deadline guarantees him $3 million, sources close to the situation said. The clause permits the Eagles to keep Vick on the roster until the start of free agency on March 12 without having to pay the guaranteed figure as long as another team picks him up or pays him more than $3 million. Wednesday was once thought to be D-Day for Vick and the Eagles, but the provision buys new coach Chip Kelly some time before he has to make a decision on the 32-year-old quarterback. The Eagles are not expected to bring Vick back at the $15.5 million salary in his contract.

Vick may be be a good fit fit Chip kelly's O- at least for a season.

Hated Vick for years for what he did in the past but that's in the past now. I do hope that he finds a coach that will make him a better player whether be still in Philly or somewhere else.

This game is not going to end well. Sounds like the Eagles are just going to string him out until the last minute then either release or trade him. By that time many of the teams that need a QB would have already filled that spot. Can't possibly take this long to make this decision.

Hard to imagine another team willing to pay him $3 million next year. Not after the season he just had.

Yeah. I think the Iggles are playing a dangerous game that's going to cost them that $3 million. With his big salary nobody is going to trade for him, or at least not a team with any sense.

So, what area code are the Jets in again?

He's already out there, way out there!

Look for Vick to come into camp in great shape and be both mentally and physically ready to play with some knowledge of the Playbook, he knows this is his last shot and he just might take advantage of it!!!

Listening to all you QB guru's I'd think you'd be on to something with your recent talented QB's that you all predicted to be the next great think

I was here for all that. Were you, Mr. 158 Posts? Very few people thought Cassell was the answer to anything, and most people seemed to think Kolb was going to be exposed as a terrible QB in Arizona. Matt Flynn? Jury is out. He didn't lose the starting job to Wilson through any lack of ability on his part. They just went with Wilson because they saw something special. Foles? Jury is still out there, too, though questions mount, but I don't remember many people jumping up and down and saying he would be the savior of the team. So I don't know what you're on about.

And on a totally unrelated topic, I can't wait for Matt Barkley to be the savior of [enter name of team of your choice]. (cough)
