08:02 AM ET 02.06 | Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had a pretty good weekend -- meaning, by extension, so did his agent, Joe Linta. "He immediately becomes a national figure," Linta told CNBC. "If he had walked down the street in Chicago last week, probably no one would know him. Now, everyone is going to know him because the Super Bowl is a marketer's dream." ... Flacco made $7 million this season and is set to be a free agent. By all accounts, he wants to remain in Baltimore, and the team wants to keep him. When asked whether Flacco should be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, Linta simply said: "YES." That would mean more than the $18 million Denver paid Peyton Manning this season, or the $20 million a year that Drew Brees is averaging in New Orleans.

What the agent really means is- I want to get the highest commission of any quarterback's agent.

The Ravens are hating they didn't offer Flacco an extension sooner.

Couldn't agree more! Now they have a headache whether to franchise and lose majority of veterans or sign him long term with max money.

Agent is doing his job... and his client has given him plenty of leverage.

But he will get franchised - and he will get paid.

I agree with the franchise tag Otis but I'm afraid like what I said, Ravens will lose a lot of vets like Boldin and Reed. I rather have them signed max money now and just give him Bonuses upfront to keep the vets for the next couple of years then restructure after that.

Yep - that's the risk you take. On the other side of the coin - your team gets a little older instead of younger. That's dangerous...

Ozzie is one of the best in the business. The offense is in pretty good shape (contract-wise) for the next few years, no?

If you can get Joe signed long term sooner than later - all the better. That would be the best scenario. But I believe Ozzie will do his job. At least you have that security (wish my heroes did).

Flacco makes a compelling argument. Don't think any other QB in the league can say they've won as many playoff games and a SB in the last 5 years.

Something that's hardly been mentioned in all this is the fact that the Ravens switched up their offensive line towards the end of the season, and it worked like a charm. Flacco got great protection throughout the playoffs.

He's got them over a barrel, doesn't he?

Some days you are the hammer, some days the nail. Call him Stanley.

Phew. For a minute there I thought you were going to call him "Shirley."

Risky venture. Does Flacco's recent play indicate he's improved to a higher level and will play that way from now on or did he just get hot for a while? I'm guessing the former but if you max him out long term and find out it's the latter....

i heard on the radio today that Flacco has never made a pro bowl. Seriously?

Yes!

Flacco had a great playoffs this year and he's gonna get paid but his regualr season wasn't that great this year. So, it's a high risk that he plays in next year's regular season like he did in this year's playffs. Plus as SBF already pointed out the OL play was greatly improved in the payoffs. Another hugh question is can the Ravens keep that OL together? If they pay Flacco 20 mil there's no way that OL returns in tact for next year.

Seems to me that the Ravens may be between a rock and a hard place in the offseason. The reason they're there is great but they are there none the less!

I hope he takes them to the cleaners...costing them the ability to sign some of their FAs like Bolden..who would look great in a pats uniform.

And your guessing is exactly why you sound so uninformed and moronic.Flacco has been to the playoffs every year(5) in the league and no other QB have the wins he's posted in such playoffs, not Brees, not the Mannings, not Brady, not Rodgers or any other name for that matter. Get this, he has outplayed Brady the last two time they've me in the playoffs, he has beat Big Ben, he beat new golden boy Kaepernick in the SB, he beat rookie sensation Andrew Luck, and he beat Peyton, all in this years playoffs, he had a perfect postseason this year and yet you suspect the former, keep quiet cause you sound completely uninformed........Apple!

he hasn't out played any of those QBs, he's out played their defenses. Banana!
