08:10 AM ET 02.06 | Pitchers and catchers report soon, but managers, such as Terry Collins, are already on the job. Managing the Mets is hard enough. Managing them as a lame duck is nearly impossible. That is what is staring [Collins] in the face. Collins is staring right back. "Two of my really good friends went through it last year, and they didn't have any problem with it," Collins told The Post Tuesday at the Mets' spring-training facility. Those two friends were Jim Leyland and Dusty Baker, who led the Tigers and Reds, respectively, to the postseason. Baker offered up some wonderful life advice for Collins: "You can't be afraid of the unknown."

The first half of last year he had his team Playing Billy Ball and they were doing well, both him and the ownership pressed the players to swing for the fences and everything blew up in their face, of some pitchers getting hurt didn't help! For just about the past 7-10 years the team has been managed right out of the owners box and that's what is killing them in addition to little or no smart investing! How the league allows them to operate is beyond my comprehension, if I were Terry I'd run the team as I see fit and if they don't like, fire him, he's proved he's a Big League Manager!

No reason on earth why he should be looking over his shoulder....besides a young starting rotation and the addition of some more mediocre arms in the bullpen...this team is relatively the same...so unless some young players i.e. Tejada, Nieuwenheis and Davis really kick it up a notch...and returning vets Wright and Daniel (I only produce for a half a year) Murphy have big years...it will be the same old story at the new Shea Stadium.....
