Emerging goalie controversy in Anaheim

08:19 AM ET 02.06 | Here we go again. Welcome to the Ducks' latest edition of Goaltenders 1A and 1B. It once was Jean-Sebastien Giguere and Ilya Bryzaglov. Then it was Giguere and Jonas Hiller. And in both cases it was vice versa at times. Now playing is the struggling Hiller and impressive NHL newcomer Viktor Fasth. As Hiller tries to shake off some early-season rust, Fasth has jumped in with victories in all three of his starts while allowing just four goals. Fasth is clearly making a push for more playing time and Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau now faces a tough call in terms of splitting the workload. Do you back Hiller and get him on track or ride the hot hand in a shortened season?

And they have John Gibson in the pipeline. This place is a goaltender factory.

Tough spot. Hiller's value is nowhere near where it should be right now, but if they wait their potential return diminishes given that he's UFA in 2014.

I would think Brucie, above most other coaches, would know not to totally bank on a young goalie.

im sick and tired of hearing the term 'goalie controversy'...unless it's in Vancouver, of course.

Any time a guy has a bad game or a young kid plays a good one we're suddenly in a goalie controversy.

by the way, FN mods, your site sucks. Stop roving the boards looking to sensor posts with non-sense words like jackwagon...and try to actually get the site running decently. I'm sick and tired of having to try doing a post 2-3 times before it goes through.

Nice going POTF. You made the kid cry.

Looks like they Photoshopped Teemu Selane's pic.

oh, and btw, how about them Blackhawks?

February 6, 2013  09:24 AM ET

Granted this is an unusual and short season, but all teams have to stop with the manufactured "goalie controversies".

Every goalie in the history of the game has bad spells. And just because some unproven kid comes in and plays well for a couple of games, does not mean there is a controversy.

Where is this kid and how many draft picks will it take to get him to T.O?

but don't you know that children may see this site?
Do you know the irreprerable harm that could be done to them if they see a suggestive word?
I think it's important that the FN sensors do what they do!!!

Sorry, I had the new "Facetious Swirl" flavour pop tarts this am

Well if he's no leader, really, really soft and very prone to slumps then 2 firsts and a second should do it.

The first period was fun to watch, the announcers hit right on the head that the game would tighten up.

It is painful to say this but...The Cannots are doing this right-play whoever is winning.Simple.
