08:22 AM ET 02.06 | The Lightning and Flyers played through a tinder box of a game Tuesday, with Philadelphia taking a 2-1 win. [Two] fights ended with the winner connecting with punches after the opponents were down, a breach of accepted protocol among NHL players. In the first period, Philadelphia's Zac Rinaldo decked B.J. Crombeen with a good right hand then appeared to hit him twice when down on his knees. ... [Crombeen] was held out of the rest of the game and Lightning right wing Pierre-Cedric Labrie said he warned Rinaldo. "He was telling me it was fair and (Crombeen) was not going down," Labrie said. "I told him to keep his head up because I'll be coming for you but we didn't match up after that. ... One day." The teams meet again March 18 in Tampa.

Maybe this is just he plays for the team I watch but I haven't seen a player have as much of a target on his back since before Cooke turned good. The other night Rinaldo got a boarding penalty for checking the boards he didn't even touch the Caps player until after impacting the boards. Unfortunately thats not a joke.

But as noted by Mr. Yeltsin...he is not a nice guy and needs to be....."spoken to", preferably by someone like Colton Orr or Mike Rupp, Stu bickel, etc.

lecavalier did the right thing.

Rinaldo's a little bword. Plain and simple.

Pretty much how I saw it too Danny.

Pierre McGuire Alert!

which is what makes lecavalier's response that much better. Having a cheap shot returned by a quality player sends a message, imo.

I hope that bum gets what's coming to him, too.

Man I wish he was in Montreal.

He is playing well. And his willingness to drop them endears him to me.

I'd love to have him and Getzlaf on the same team. My team.

Question 1: What did Lecavalier do? I do not see him referenced in the OP

Question 2: What did Rinaldo do IN THIS FIGHT that was sooooooo bad? After watching the replay above, I do not see anything remotely close to the protocol violations referred to in the OP. He may be a"bword", but I am not seeing it in this circumstance

Won't argue he is a loose cannon, not a nice guy, a bword but just about every team in the league has a guy like him he is just their younger version and has some learning to do.

Rinaldo's a disgrace. He has no code. He needs to Col. Nathan Jessep to teach it to him.

But apparently he hit a grounded opponent....

After a spirited encounter, Talbot was swung to the ice and Vinnie popped him once more on the beak for good measure.

Personally, I figgin' loved it.

Speaking of Montreal, high hopes for tonight.

Lecavalier fighting Talbot is every bit as stupid as Ryan Callahan fighting Talbot. He's lucky he didn't injure himself.

That last punch Vinnie threw was bush league. I love his tenacity , but tough and dirty are entirely different.
