Could Moss retire?

08:05 AM ET 02.07 | Will Randy Moss be around next season to defend the NFC title? As we discovered over the last week, Moss wasn't exactly happy with his backup role and wanted to be a bigger part of the offense. When he got that chance in the playoffs, Moss played well but certainly didn't take over games or play like the greatest receiver of all time. He was merely decent. It's hard to envision any other teams giving Moss a better opportunity than he received in San Francisco. Furthermore, the injuries to Manningham and Williams mean Moss probably is needed more by the 49ers than by any other team. That all points to Moss being back. But he's been enigmatic over his career, and predicting what he'll do is a fool's game. Heck, he could decide to retire.

I thought he retired sometime in the 2nd quarter of the Super Bowl. Or was it two years ago?

He should! He is pretty much useless nowadays. His YAC this past season was just horrible. 49ers didn't even make a play for him in the end zone to make a jump ball and opted for Crabtree instead against the Ravens.

He was done in Tennessee.
I didn't see anything this season that led me to believe he has any more now than he did then.

His disposition was better (except Super Bowl week), but his play was mediocre, as has been the last few years.

the fact that the Titans even brought him in just to sit the bench still is beyond belief....Bud must have had something to do with that.......

One can only hope. Althought it'd be a shame to lose "the best ever."

Are you kidding me, didn't you see why he's the greatest receiver of all-time? Jerry Rice never played that good in any game, especially the Super Bowl!!!!!! Take that Jerry, Randy is still not done! Just finished!!!!!

Nah, just send him on shallow crossing routes until some linebacker takes his head off.

How's he going to defend the NFC title if the only team that will offer him a job is Buffalo?
