08:17 AM ET 02.07 | In the running for strange signing day tales is that of five-star running back Alex Collins. [Collins] verbally committed to Arkansas on Monday and was expected to make it official at a ceremony on Wednesday. Instead, Collins canceled his ceremony because he needed more time to think about his decision. Which is somewhat different than the story from ESPN's RecruitingNation. Corey Long reported on Wednesday that Collins' mom "confiscated" his letter of intent and left the school with it. She reportedly did so because she doesn't want her son to leave the area to go to school. As of late Wednesday afternoon, Collins' signing with Arkansas was considered "imminent" at Arkansas.

Uh, Mom, that is your son's decision. He is old enough to make it for himself. It's not like you're paying for him to go to school. You're the one that needs to be an adult in this situation and learn to let go.

ESPN and their cameras has turned NSD into a National Stupid Day, where high school kids get treated like rock stars and get to play to the crowds.
Reuben Foster looked so cute dressed up like the wee emperor, and Robert Nkemdiche looked even cuter dressed like a ice cream vendor. Now we find out the "confiscated letter" scandal may have been fabricated. Oh the drama!

Can't you just picture this kid showing up at Ark. and then 10 mins. later his mom drives up and pulls him into her car by the ear, "we're going to Miami, junior, and I don't want to hear no crying."

Is this for real? The family obtained an attorney to get him out of his letter? Or is my sarcasm meter not functioning?
