06:50 PM ET 02.07 | Staying the course is what Paul Pierce does. He refuses to believe the Celtics, without Rajon Rondo and nearly at a .500 record, don't have a chance at surprising people this year. Boston has won five in a row without their All-Star point guard, so it's hard to disagree with Pierce. The franchise as a whole hasn't yet made it clear whether the Celtics will stand pat and try to win with an aging Pierce and Kevin Garnett, or go into rebuilding mode. For what it's worth, Pierce doesn't want to be part of a rebuilding team. He said that would even force him to consider retirement. "I mean, I really don't want to be part of a rebuilding situation again," Pierce told the Boston Herald. "I just think at this point in time that's something that would wear on me too much mentally that I don't know what decision I may make if I have to. I may retire if I have to. You know, that's something that???s a year-end process, especially given the situation that we have right now."

Maybe An Overhaul Is Needed, Bro?

QUOTE(#4):

Rebuild? All they did last time was get Kevin McHale to send the Timberwolves best player (Garnett) over for a couple of used jock straps and a dozen balls. Ainge didn't do the Boston rebuilding, McHale did and he wasn't even with the C's.

I understand the point, but the C's did send Al Jefferson to the Wolves. He isn't exactly a spare part.

So is anybody really worried about that?
