07:58 AM ET 02.08 | A Super Bowl in Minneapolis? After meeting with NFL officials at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, Vikings executives came home firmly intent on landing the 2018 Super Bowl for their new stadium, which is to open in 2016 in downtown Minneapolis. The only time Minnesota has hosted a Super Bowl was in 1992 at the Metrodome, where Washington defeated Buffalo 37-24. "We started to do some homework on our bid," Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley said Tuesday, Feb. 6. The Vikings already have applied to the 2018, 2019 or 2020 Super Bowl. They are pushing hard for 2018. In New Orleans, they were briefed on the second round of the application and formal presentation processes.

Why not? Fans love coming to party with ice sculptures.

Obviously to host it, not play in it. Realistic anyhow.

But we're not allowed to have one in Miami until we put a roof up because it rains once every winter here. Please.

They should put it back at the Humpty Dump. What a halftime show that would be! The roof caves in and dumps snow on everyone in front of the world.

The entire T&R family is invited to stay with me if Minny hosts the Super Bowl......except Mick; from what i read I get the impression he has some long-term bowel issues.

It's the fried bologna... we can try to keep him away from that for a few days.

Come to the new stadium for the the big game, sample some lutefisk (google it) and enjoy the action in the climate controlled confines while outside it'll be cold enough to freeze gasoline.

February 8, 2013  03:32 PM ET

OH... I get it...HOSTING the Super Bowl.....

I guess this means they won't be planning to move anywhere for another five years.
